Phreque ("freak") launched August 20th, 1999 as a repository slash self-indulgent trophy case for whatever I happened to make. In 2007, the success of USB Nintendo controllers gave justification to add a full-blown webstore, and with that shiny new store came the need to think of more stuff to fill it with. Shortly after, Epiloguemusic.net (the musical counterpart to Phreque) was merged with this site. Now that keeping the Shop stocked and new music/sketches/videos/products coming is a big enough part of my daily routine, it seems time to share some of the details of the operation which include but are not limited to: 1) All waste plastic, metal, batteries, cardboard, packaging, etc is recycled. 2) The whole operation is powered electricity generated from biomass and wind. And beer. 3) Only lead-free solder is used for all electronic modifications. 4) To date, creating Phreque's products has generated less than five pounds of trash. 5) Only environmentally-friendly cleaning agents are used to wash components. 6) Nearly every item is made with recycled and repurposed parts. And hey... how many other sites can boast free zombies with every order? I don't know either.
Aside from the shop, there is nothing on Phreque that requires any kind of registration. You're free to gawk unabashedly at all music, articles, images and such. Unless otherwise noted, all content of this site is © Jacob Talkington (Phreque's creator). For a list of works and more information, visit www.jacobtalkington.com. (Legalese shorthand: obviously, all video game characters are the intellectual property of the studios and game companies that created them. I claim no ownership over these.)
Other stuff to know - This site is a showcase of my tangle of hobbies - not a business. All items available in the shop are made by hand in my spare time, and the money generated by selling them recoups the cost of parts and enables me to continue turning abstract ideas into tangible coolness. By supporting Phreque with word of mouth, purchases, sharing the music, you help perpetuate this creative process. Thanks for your support! (And for what it's worth, I know the site can look ugly in IE. It's only cosmetic, but it's due to my lack of willingness to continue working around a broken browser.)
